Power Trip Energy Company
Craft Your Own Energy Destiny

Volk / Korb Residence, Port Angeles, WA

August 2003

This home is the second grid-tied solar home on the Clallam PUD grid, and has an excellent, unimpeded southern exposure. This adventurous couple performed the installation themselves, and came through with a very professional quality completion. Sixteen panels are attached to the garage roof using a racking system that works very well with concrete tile shingles. The inverter, disconnects, and auxiliary meter were mounted in the garage.

The customer has a Net-Metering agreement with Clallam PUD that allows them to be credited for the electricity they feed back onto the grid. Clallam PUD also provides a $450 per KW rebate on solar PV, in this case $1350 total. They are also members of the NW Solar Co-Op, which purchases the "green attributes" of the power they produce for even more than they save by not buying those hilowatt hours from Clallam PUD.

Customer feedback: "Again, I want to thank you for your help getting us connected to the grid! We feel fornunate to have 'found' you last winter...and you are a pleasure to work with. We wish you the best with your new business...we have already recommended you to others and will continue to. Thank you Andy!"
