Pacific Ecological Institute, Quilcene, WA

February 2004

The Pacific Ecological Institute has been an active Northwest non-profit organization for 20 years. While they address many issues, their main focus is citizen water quality monitoring. They have a small lab facility on Lake Leland in Quilcene where members of the community can participate in an on-going water quality assessment of the lake and Leland Creek. They have the goal of returning native salmon runs to this creeks, which are now only a memory of the older local residents.

We designed a kiosk that serves as both mounting structure for the panels and educational opportunity. The kiosk is in the parking area and will be seen by all who pass on the road, or who participate in PEI's programs on-site.

Features: Financial Incentives:
  • 1 KW of Sharp Multi-Crystalline Solar Panels
  • SMA SunnyBoy 1800 Inverter
